Description

These 3D models of gimlets and inserts allow you to build your own banksticks with screw point, using simple tubes Rigid PVC IRL Ø20 mm (electrical sheath).
Result: a spade robust, economical, It can be adapted to any length and duplicated for all your fishing conditions. Forget expensive telescopic models.

📥Included in download

  • 1 screw, screw point (screwpoint)
  • 1 rod holder insert with universal thread
  • The two parts fit into the tube by means of a octagonal profile, a high-performance system that I've already tried and tested on other models of PVC structures.

⚙️Compatibilité & assembly

  • Designed for tubes IRL 20 mm (rigid electrical sheaths).
  • As the walls of these tubes are not perfectly uniform, it may be necessary :
    • from lightly sand the edges of the insert to adjust the diameter,
    • to ensure press fit for strength.
  • For long-lasting assembly and best performance, assemble the parts with two-component epoxy adhesive or Araldite.

🎣 3/8″ universal thread

The cane-holder insert is equipped with a 3/8″ standard fishing thread, compatible with the majority of brackets and accessories on the market.

💡 What next?

A project for Full 3D rod pod in progress, It's as functional and robust as a commercial model, and also uses a 20 mm IRL PVC tube structure.

In the meantime, to build lightweight structures in 20 mm IRL tubes, you can take inspiration from my 2-3-4-5-way connectors, already downloaded thousands of times on major sharing platforms.

Technical Tips for 3D Printing

🧰 Printing Tips & Design Quality

My models are specifically designed for the’3D FDM printing. They meet real needs of fishermen, not a simple modeling exercise.
Each piece is designed, printed, tested and optimized directly in real-life fishing conditions, until you achieve a fully functional and reliable result.

🔧 Recommended printing parameters

  • Nozzle : 0.4 mm
  • Layer height : 0.12 to 0.20 mm
  • Infill :
    • ≥ 50 % for screw-on tip
    • 100 % for upper part (insert + holder)
  • Recommended filament :
    • PETG (the most versatile and robust)
    • PLA Meta / PLA+ (good stiffness/simplicity compromise)
    • ABS, ASA
    • Nylon
  • Orientation on the plateau : print flat, with supports
  • Scale factor : non-functional, This would interfere with the precision of the thread and the fit of the insert.

🖨️ Guaranteed 3D printability - Tested on an Ender 3 Pro

The model shown in the photos comes from exactly which STL file is available for download.
It was printed on a Original Creality Ender 3 Pro, simply equipped:

  • a BLTouch,
  • a PEI.

This choice is deliberate: it objectively demonstrates that :

  1. My patterns print perfectly,
  2. They do not require a high-end printer nor the latest technology.

➡️ If the print is excellent on an Ender 3, it will also be on your machine.

🎣 Real fishing gear, not a gadget

My 3D models are not gadgets or approximations vaguely inspired by off-the-shelf accessories.
These are genuine fishing accessories, designed with the same :

  • sizing,
  • ergonomics,
  • robustness,
  • technical standards,
  • tolerances adapted to FDM.

🔩 3/8″ universal thread: guaranteed precision

For rod rests, butt grips or accessory heads, it's not a question of not pseudo-threading of approximately 8, 9 or 10 mm.

This is the true 3/8″ universal thread, the one used on :

  • rod pods,
  • buzzbars,
  • banksticks,
  • and the majority of brands on the market.

➡️ The model integrates tolerances required for FDM printing, for clean, reliable, long-lasting screwing.
