Technical Tips for 3D Printing

3D printing recommendations for foam grids

This grid has been designed for printing with a 0.4 mm nozzle, offering an excellent compromise between precision and printing speed.

Materials :

  • PETG recommended excellent durability, water resistance and adhesion, ideal for aquarium use.
  • The PLA can work, It's less durable and suitable for damp environments. It will disintegrate
  • And why not TPU!

Layer height / quality :

  • 0.12 mm or 0.16 mm Thin layers provide better detail and a more even surface for easier foam adhesion.

Tray adhesion :

  • Brim recommended This limits warping and ensures that the grid remains flat during printing.

Additional tips:

  • Print slowly (30-40 mm/s) for optimum precision unless you have BOSS-level control of jerk, K, acceleration, etc., or you own a state-of-the-art printer.
  • Limit retraction to avoid threads on small meshes.
  • For PETG, reduce cooling slightly to improve melting between layers - without disabling it altogether.

By following these settings, you will obtain a solid, precise and durable grille, perfectly suited to your water feature.
